Underrated and as such wonderfully uncrowded, Langtang trekking in Nepal combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the pristine alpine lakes at Gosainkunda and the stunningly beautiful Helambu Valley. We explore the breathtaking Langtang National park and before trekkin on down the imposing valley to view the flute-like ice marvels of Gyangchempo.

North of Kathmandu, we follow the Trisuli River passing through Trasuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubensi, a Sherpa village nestled right on the cusp of the Langtang National Park. Trekking on from here we march east into the Langtang valley, zig-zagging the river as we climb the gorge-like valley walls. Oak and rhododendron forests flank us on the trail until we come to a thrilling glacial moraine crossing before we make it to the Tamang village of Langtang.

Our local staff are paid a decent living wage, get provided with all the right gear and are always well looked after. We pride ourselves on our ethics.

Up the valley yet further from here is Kyangin Gompa, where we spend the night and sample the local yak cheese (the hard dried stuff is a real love-it-hate-it delicacy!). From here we explore Nubamatang, secretly tucked away in a private valley, before we come into view of the amazing glacier, where hardy mountain folk make their crossing into Tibet to trade and see family and friends. From this pinnacle we return along the trail for a way, passing through Syabru and Sing Gompa until we reach a high plateau, site of the holy lake Gosainkunda. We take our time here so we all get photos to do the place justice. After crossing the Llaurebena Pass (4610m), we head south, until we leave the Langtang region behind us and trek on to the Helambu valley to Gul Bhanjyang. It's just a few relaxed days on the trail back to Kathmandu from here.

Spring (March to May in this hemisphere) are the best seasons for this trek as the flowers are in bloom and the sun is out. However its still a little cold at night time so bring warm clothes.
